Cancer touches us all, whether it is directly or indirectly. I personally have been touched by this insidious disease several times. Several family members of mine are either battling cancer currently, have beaten it or have been taken by it. They say it runs in families, and in mine it is rampant.
When I had the idea to start a way to raise funds for cancer research, I thought about just how much my family has dealt with this horrible disease. I wanted to do something that would have a huge impact on this horrible battle we are fighting. I couldn't, and still can't, believe how fast the cancer rate has grown - both in the United States and worldwide.
My wife and I have a Great Dane that we treat as a family member. When it comes to outfitting her with a collar, there is no skimping. She gets nothing but the best. I know we are not in the minority; there are millions of people who consider their pets to be part of the family and buy nothing but the best for them.
There is a reason pet supplies are a multibillion dollar a year industry; People simply splurge on their pets and we are no different. We decided to create Collars For Cures to serve this group and also raise money for cancer research.
